Concentration & Learning Info

The ability to concentrate is critical to many aspects of our day to day functioning, and especially important for our ability to learn. Unfortunately though, for many people concentration and learning can be a struggle, whether it be due to overwhelm and ‘busy-ness’, stress, or underlying health conditions such as ADD or other learning and behavioural disorders.

Modern technology and its instant gratification can mean our ability to concentrate on things for longer periods of time is lost, and many people find they require support to maintain focus and absorb new information.

How can we support our ability to concentrate and learn?

There are a number of ways we can help support our ability to concentrate. These can range from puzzles and training our brains to maintain focus for longer periods, through to supporting our general neurological function with good nutrition.

Traditional herbs include Gingko Biloba, gentian and brahmi. Ensuring adequate intake of the vitamin B complex, phosphatidylserine and choline, and omega 3 fatty acids are also important to support focus. Numerous food additives have also been linked to reduced ability to concentrate, so focussing on whole foods and superfoods with supplementation where needed may support those who struggle to maintain a good attention span.
