Gout Relief

Gout is a form of arthritis, characterized by recurrent attacks of acute inflammatory arthritis—a red, tender, hot, swollen joint which can be very painful. It is caused by elevated levels of uric acid in the blood. The uric acid crystallizes, and the crystals deposit in joints, tendons, and surrounding tissues.

Gout Info

“The best medicine I know for rheumatism is to thank the Lord that it ain't gout.”

Josh Billings

Gout can be very painful. In 50% of cases, the metatarsal-phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe is affected.

Clinical diagnosis may be confirmed by seeing the characteristic crystals in joint fluid.

Gout has become more common in recent decades, affecting about 1–2% of the Western population at some point in their lives. The increase is believed due to increasing risk factors in the population, such as metabolic syndrome, longer life expectancy and changes in diet.

Interestingly, gout was viewed as "the disease of kings" or "rich man's disease" historically.

To ease the pain during a gout attack, rest the joint that hurts. Taking ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory medicine can also help you feel better. But don't take aspirin. It can make gout worse by raising the uric acid level in the blood.

To prevent future attacks, your doctor can prescribe a medicine to reduce uric acid build up in your blood. If your doctor prescribes medicine to lower your uric acid levels, be sure to take it as directed. Most people continue to take this medicine for the rest of their lives.

Paying attention to what you eat may help you manage your gout. Eat moderate amounts of a healthy mix of foods to control your weight and get the nutrients you need. Avoid regular daily intake of meat, seafood, and alcohol (especially beer). Drink plenty of water and other fluids.

There are some natural health products that may help alleviate this condition. Specifically the pain associated with it. is fantastic for gout.
