Stretch Marks Info

Stretch marks are a form of scarring on the skin, caused by tearing of the dermis, which may diminish over time, but they will not disappear completely.

They are often the result of stretching of the skin associated with both rapid weight change and growth (like during pregnancy, usually during the last trimester,) and usually on the stomach. The marks can also occur on the breasts, thighs, hips, lower back and buttocks.

Some forms of stretch marks are believed to be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy and hormone replacement therapy. Some people who practice intense body building get stretch marks after they retire.

There are natural health remedies that may help in reducing the incidence of stretch marks as well as treating the symptoms. Massaging the affected areas with oils that contain specific ingredients (e.g. sweet almond oil - which works gently, delivers moisturising essential fatty acids that keep skin supple and protected from drying.) Pregnancy is a big job for muscles and skin, here, organic arnica flower extract may help ease tightness. MORE on how natural remedies might help after pregnancy or weight loss on our blog.

Antioxidants such as Vitamin E work to protect cells in the body from damage caused by free radicals, which are potentially damaging by-products of energy metabolism. Vitamin E helps to prevent LDL (bad) cholesterol damage from free radicals hereby protecting against cell damage may also be beneficial in treating stretch marks.

Product Reviews

  • Definitely recommended!!!

I used this oil on my tummy, breasts and thighs twice a day during pregnancy and it kept my skin very hydrated and smooth. I did not get any stretch marks. Loving the smell as well. It’s not too intense. I still continue to use it after the pregnancy. Can only recommend!

  • Didn’t work for me

Unfortunately, this didn’t work for me at all. Started using it super early in pregnancy, twice a day every day and then when my belly started to get bigger at about 6 months, the marks came. Had to resort to another product to try and rescue but was too late. Extremely disappointed after buying off others reviews. May have prevented the marks from being worse than they are and smells nice, hence 2 stars.

Nice natural product that feels safe to use (beautiful natural ingredients). Used this throughout my pregnancy and ended up with no stretch marks.
