Warts Info

"Say -- what is dead cats good for, Huck?"

"Good for? Cure warts with."

Mark Twain, (Adventures of Tom Sawyer)

A wart is a small, rough growth that looks a little bit like a miniature cauliflower or sometimes resembles a blister. Typically they occur on hands or feet, but they can rear their head in other, more unfortunate, locations. As with Huckleberry’s dead cat remedy above, there have been a lot of home remedies suggested for warts over the last 1000 years. Some effective, some not so much.

Contrary to popular belief, warts are caused by a viral infection, specifically by one of the many types of human papillomavirus (HPV). Just like ice cream, there are as many as 10 different varieties of warts, and the most common ones are considered relatively harmless.

It is possible to contract warts from others; they are contagious and usually enter the body in an area of broken skin.

They typically disappear after a few months but can last for years and can recur. One common way to get rid of warts is burning them with dry ice and then starving them of oxygen with an air tight seal (Band-Aid or plaster). This will involve a visit to your GP, but there are some natural solutions that you may find effective.

Most importantly zinc, topically applied, will help remove the warts.

  • Keeps my colds/flus away

If I feel like a cold coming on, I take the echinacea 3 times a day. I have tried other echinacea liquids and in tablet form, but they haven't worked as good as Weleda.

  • great stuff

    star- web-tec.info

Always keep a bottle in the medicine cupboard. Used it to get rid of little annoying warts. Only takes about three weeks and warts all gone. Had a wart come up on my face . GP wouldn't try removing it because of the risk of scarring etc. Suggested I go to skin clinic. That was going to cost heaps! Started using this nights only....three months later no sign of wart and no scar! It's got my tick of approval.

  • Good results

    star- web-tec.info

Pubmed published a paper that indicated Horsetail to be equally effective as a loop diuretic but without any disruption to electrolyte balance. I have found this to be true and am happy with the results. Apparently, Spring is a good time to use this plant as it acts a general astringent tonic. Recommended.
