Lysine Info

Lysine is one of the essential amino acids we need to build protein for growth and to help maintain the body’s nitrogen balance. It also has important roles in cholesterol management, calcium absorption and collagen formation.

Lysine Benefits

Lysine is a specific treatment for cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus. By helping suppress the virus, lysine can reduce frequency, duration and severity of outbreaks. Oral and genital herpes and shingles are all forms of herpes virus that benefit from lysine treatment.

Lysine is also valuable in maintaining healthy bones when supplemented in both prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

Lysine metabolism requires several other specific nutrients for proper absorption in the body.

Lysine Side Effects

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, medical advice is recommended before taking lysine products. Do not take lysine with milk or other dairy products. High doses of lysine can increase the toxic effect of some antibiotic drugs, and very high doses can cause abdominal pain. Caution and medical advice is recommended if taking Warfarin or other prescribed medication.

  • Helps my outbreaks!

    star- web-tec.info

I have battled for the last 3 years with a herpes outbreak on my right buttocks cheek! every time it flares up its only ever on the right cheek and generally the same spot, it first appeared during my 3rd pregnancy and I wasn't sure if it was pregnancy related or not, unfortunately not and it kept coming back every 2-3 months.
I take these Lysine supplements at the first sign of the outbreak (itchy, raised rash) and booooom, it nips it in the butt!(literally!) Couldn't live with out these!

  • Lysine v shingles

    star- web-tec.info

I recently had shingles and was advised by a medical professional to take Lysine. One three times a day for the first two weeks then one daily for the length of the illness. I have been advised to keep on with the daily dosage for a further six months. I now recommend Lysine to anyone who gets shingles because it helps clear up the virus.

  • Works for me

    star- web-tec.info

Have been prone to the dreaded cold sores for many years. I spend a lot of time outside and even using 50 factor lip balm does not always stop them. I take one of these tablets every day and if I do get the tingle of one forming I double/triple the dose and that usually nips it in the bud. Well worth trying.
