Iron Supplements

Iron is our most abundant essential trace mineral. It is an important micronutrient in energy production, protein metabolism and immune system health. Iron anaemia, when haemoglobin-containing red blood cell production declines, might cause pallor, weakness, poor immunity and fatigue.

Supplementations with iron pills or tonic is a common way used to supply the body with the additional amount of the mineral. Iron deficiency is more common in pregnant or heavily menstruating women, female athletes, teenagers experiencing a growth spurt and the elderly. Studies show that around 40% of New Zealand women of childbearing age are iron deficient. Iron-deficient mothers are more likely to produce infants who are susceptible to iron deficiency.

Iron Info

Iron is necessary to most life forms on the planet. We need it as the central component of our oxygen-transporting haemoglobin molecules. It is an important micronutrient in energy production, protein metabolism and immune system.

Fatigue, irritability, recurring infections, shortness of breath, headaches, chest pain and heavy menstrual bleeding can all indicate dietary iron deficiency. Cognitive impairment, developmental delay and hair loss can result if iron deficiency is not addressed.

Iron Side Effects

Poorly absorbed iron supplements can cause headaches, constipation and digestive discomfort due to residual iron the body is trying to excrete.

High doses can cause organ toxicity and free radical damage to tissues.

Take at least 2 hours away from medications.

Contraindicated in cases of hemochromatosis.

Keep your supplements well out of reach of curious children. Iron supplements are a leading cause of accidental poisonings in young children (USA), who find containers and swallow the contents.

Product Reviews

  • EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT!!!

    star- web-tec.info

I've been anaemic since very young (possibly birth ?). My mother tried everything to get my iron levels up when I was young, and even though I was eating meat, I still had low iron. At the age of 21 I became vegetarian and have maintained that lifestyle to date. I struggled the most when it came to my monthly cycle, tried every iron supplement I could get my hands on...nothing helped until July 2018. I started taking Iron chews ( 1 a day) and at first they didn't seem to be doing much. After about 3 months taking 1-a-day I decided to take 2-a-day because the exhaustion I went through before each period was just too much. in July of 2018 my iron levels were 8, then crept up to 11, then down again to 9, up again to 22 and now (7 months later) my iron levels have gone up to 43...that's just 7 months form taking Iron chews. You can imagine how stoked I am...this product is truly incredible; simple, no indigestion, no constipation, well-priced, easy to take AND actually WORKS! The difference it's made for me is just mind-blowing; much much less period pain... if any, I rarely get those pms moods and though I still experience some fatigue prior to my period, it' significantly less than a year ago. GOODHEALTH this a mighty good product!!!! I love my iron chews and tell all my vegan/vegetarian friends about them. Loyal customer right here...x

  • Working for 3 year old

    star- web-tec.info

Our just turned 3 year old was tired, grumpy, a bit listless and a fussy eater at dinner time. I've been giving him Floradix for the last month and he's sleeping better through the night and eating dinner most nights in a fuss free way, we are astonished! He's three so still a bit of a grump. Luckily he likes the taste as our 6 year old does not.

  • Constipation and no difference in energy levels

    star- web-tec.info

This product causes very bad constipation and has not made any difference in energy my levels at all. I have been taking it for 3 months, almost finished bottle. Can only bear it while taking high dose of Slippery elm to conteract constipation. Would not recommend it, very dissapointed.
